Acquire the Fire: Fired Up

Spring is coming! It is great to see signs of new life as the days get longer, the grass turns green, flowers begin to bloom, and the birds are singing again. This part of the world has hibernated long enough and it is now time to peel of those protective layers and let the sun shine its glorious heat to bring new life. Our current series entitled Acquire the Fire focusing on Colossians, Chapter Two, helps us to see what the new life in Jesus Christ is all about.

The danger in the spring for new life is not to get too much sunshine, but to get frozen off by those occasional nights when the temperature dips down below freezing. Our spiritual lives are not so different...we desperately need the Son to shine His great light and glorious truth into us to bring new life. This happens at the point of salvation but it also needs to happen year round so we continue to grow and develop fully into God's plan and unique design for each of us. Sometimes people can get "frozen" by a night or season of harsh realities.

Today we will explore the amazing and powerful truth contained in the short phrase "in Christ you have been brought to fullness." (Col 2:10) Jesus told his disciples in John 10:10, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." Are you experiencing this fullness that Jesus Christ offers AND promises? Do you need to "acquire" some of God's "fire" power again?
