Plan B kick-off

To God’s glory the whole Plan B Sunday sermon series is taking off like Usain Bolt from the blocks of another 100 meter sprint!  I’ve received lots of positive remarks from Sunday’s service, especially regarding the amazing testimony Denise Bowe shared about how God was with her every step of the way when she lost her baby of 2 ½ years and within three years, losing her soul mate and husband who was killed in the line of duty (for the whole story tap into our pod cast). 

The theme of Sunday was “We are not in control…in fact; we really don’t control anything of value or meaning, like our health, loved ones and future.”  

I’m reminded of Luke 9:23-24 when Jesus faced a large crowd of folks who were following Him hoping for a “Plan A Life”, a life of ease and comfort.  Jesus blew them away by stating, “If anyone would come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily and follow me.  For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for Me will save it!” 

Something to ponder…a statement that froze the morrow in my bones when preparing for our Plan B series.  According to Craig Barnes, in his stellar book When God Interrupts: It is impossible to follow Jesus and not be led away from something!
